Planning Platforms
Strategic planning platforms
Employer: Washington State University
Client Location: Pullman, Washington
Date: 2023-2025
Scope: To move strategic planning from paper into practice, I led the development of systemwide planning platforms at Washington State University. What began as a messy Excel process quickly grew into a structured, scalable model supported by dedicated software. I researched, tested, and implemented multiple platforms, always with the priority that they had to be intuitive enough for leaders across six campuses to use effectively.
Using this software also empowered us to create public progress dashboards. I also generated reports and we presented progress regularly to the Board of Regents. By the time our office closed, five campuses were onboarded into the platform and the model had become a core tool for how the system implemented its strategic plan.
Programs Used: AchieveIt, Viva Goals, Cascade
Note from the Designer
We went through multiple rounds of software transitions, each with its own hurdles, but the payoff was worth it when leaders began to say the strategic plan finally felt real.
